UCT spin-off recognised at the NTSF Awards, in partnership with South32

Three academics and one spin-off company from the University of Cape Town were honoured with awards at the 17th Annual National Science and Technology Forum (NTSF) Awards, in partnership with South32 for their research and innovation acheivements in health sciences.


Lumkani wins inaugural Chivas Regal Venture campaign

The Lumkani Fire Detectors, motivated by extensive fires in Cape Town townships on New Year's Day in 2013 which displaced over 5000 people, is the winner of the inaugural "Win The Right Way" campaign by whisky brand Chivas Regal.


UCT Mechanical Engineering Scoops Award at Popular Mechanics FutureTech 2014

Two of UCT's mechanical engineers, Dr George Vicatos and his MSc student, Severin Tenim, won the "Cutting Edge" award for the design and development of low cost, mechanically operated prosthetic hand.
